After releasing their first song in nine years, the Pixies are on a roll. “Bagboy” is available for free download, and now the band is filling the hole left when co-founder and bass player Kim Deal announced her detarture from the band.
Oddly enough, her replacement is also named Kim. Kim Shattuck joins the band, after playing with The Pandoras in the 80s and founding indie rock group The Muffs, THR reports.
The new Pixies lineup is currently locked away in Los Angeles, working on new and old music, in preparation for a tour. They will be playing a handful of new songs on the road, along with more obscure Pixies tracks which haven’t been included in their concerts before.
According to Black Francis, the Pixies front man, they have rehearsed around 80 songs, which will allow the band to change up the setlist throughout their tour. As for when you can check them out in the United States, there are currently no dates scheduled for the tour outside of Europe.
