“Powers,” the comic-book series that will debut on Sony’s PlayStation Network in December, has lined up its first director.
David Slade, the director of “Twilight: Eclipse” and “30 Days of Night” along with episodes of “Hannibal” and “Breaking Bad,” will helm the first two episodes of “Powers.” He joins writer/executive producer Charlie Huston, comic creators Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming and EPs Remi Aubuchon, Michael Dinner and David Engel on the creative team.
What “Powers” does not yet have is a cast, but presumably it will soon if it’s to make the December launch date.
“Powers” centers on Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, detectives who work cases involving people with superpowers. It’s a world Walker knows well as a former superhero himself.
The show was previously in development at FX, with Jason Patric and Lucy Punch in the lead roles. After shooting a pilot, then ordering reshoots and additional scripts, the cable channel decided to drop the project.
