President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are currently on their first state visit to the United Kingdom. After visiting Ireland Monday (May 23), the Obamas headed to jolly old England, where they were greeted by Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Prince William and Catherine, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
After kicking things off with an honor guard at Buckingham Palace, President Obama met with Prime Minster David Cameron at 10 Downing Street, the headquarters for Her Majesty’s government. It appears the two heads of state were able to enjoy a little table tennis. President and Mrs. Obama also took time to pay their respects by laying a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Westminster Abbey.
Tuesday night (May 24) the Queen hosted a State Dinner at Buckingham Palace. In the above picture, we like to think Barack is telling Elizabeth a funny (and just slightly dirty) joke. Later in the trip, President Obama will address both houses of Parliament at their chambers in the Palace of Westminster, near Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, on the River Thames.
