Jason Lee, the Golden Globe-nominated lead from “My Name is Earl,” is coming to “Raising Hope” as Smokey Daniels, a washed-up rock star who is hired as the lead act for “Grocery-Palooza,” a rock concert at the grocery store where Sabrina works.
The episode, titled “Burt Rocks,” will feature Burt trying to relieve his rock-star years by playing backup for Smoke, one of his musical idols.
Greg Garcia, creator of “Raising Hope,” was also the mind behind “My Name is Earl.” In fact, there was a sly reference to “Earl” in the “Hope” pilot, where a news broadcaster informed us that there was a “small time criminal who [had] completed his list of amendments.”
Jason Lee is currently starring on TNT’s cop dramedy “Memphis Beat.” “Raising Hope” airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX. As previously announced, FOX has ordered an additional nine episodes of “Hope,” bringing the series to a full-season order.
