It’s hard to be one of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” when you don’t have a house. Reality star Kim Richards has entered rehab to treat “serious” issues, and now a few more details have emerged about Richards’ situation before she checked in.
A source tells People that Richards is “basically homeless.” On a recent episode of the Bravo series, we saw her move in with her boyfriend, Ken — a move that was so sudden it brought her sister Kyle Richards to tears.
Apparently, that particular arrangement didn’t work out.
“He’s not in the picture. No one really knows what the deal was with
them, but Kim doesn’t live with Ken,” the source says. “She’s basically
homeless, staying with various friends. She doesn’t have a home base.
It’s not unusual for people to not hear from her for long stretches of
time. It’s been that way for years.”
Her behavior pre-rehab is described as “erratic.” Fans have seen evidence of this on the RHOBH season, as she’s slurred her words — a symptom associated with the cocktail of anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, and anti-alcoholism meds she’s taking.
“Kim has been to rehab more than once before,” says the source, “but
every time is a new time, and everyone just hopes this sticks and that
she gets the help she needs. It’s serious.”
Reports say that Bravo encouraged Richards to seek help. RadarOnline says the network “forced” Richards into treatment.
“Kim was told by the people at Bravo that she had to get help and that help meant going into rehab immediately,” a source tells the site. “After Russell Armstrong’s suicide Bravo is trying to making sure that nothing bad happens to the people on their shows. They don’t want any more tragedies on their hands.”
Her position on the show was on the line, according to the source. “The pressures the women face being on the show are enormous. Kim was basically told that if she wanted to stay on the show then she had to get help, so she did. Kim doesn’t have any other significant source of income and she needs to keep her job on the show.”
