In a season that has seen the rise and fall of her cast mates, Adrienne Maloof escaped the inaugural season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” virtually unscathed (even celebrated). So, as the “voice of reason” this season, we asked her to weigh in on the drama that was Camille Grammer.
After all, Adrienne is one of the few housewives who knew Camille before they both joined the cast. A friend of her husband, plastic surgeon Paul Nassiff, Adrienne has been social with Camille and she says she met a new Camille during the Bravo show.
“I have to say, at times it was very difficult to defend Camille with some of the things that she says,” Maloof tells Zap2it. “Even I’m shocked. However, from what I have known of Camille, I have not known her to be that way. So, I have to think that some of it has to do with what she’s going through in her marriage. This show is a major platform and it was probably very difficult for her.”
After the tough season she has had, Camille has been very vocal in the press about feeling undecided when it comes to returning to the show when the inevitable Season 2 gets officially greenlit by Bravo. She has even said that she feels Bravo had purposely edited her storyline to make her the villain. Adrienne, on the other hand, says that the editing merely fits their stories into an hour show.
“As far as editing, if you say it, you say it, right?” she says.
And then adds, “I think if you were to talk to our friends who know each and every one of us a whole, they’d say, ‘That’s exactly the way they are.'”
That said, Adrienne believes that Camille shouldn’t give up on the series.
“I think that she should return,” she says. “Clearly leaving the way she comes across now would not be in her best interest. If she comes on for another season, I think she can redeem herself and show another side of her.”
Even with the lack of control when it comes to Bravo’s editing?
“I could only hope that she’s in a better place in Season 2,” she says. “And she’s kind of a little more settled in her relationship and her marriage. Maybe, she’ll be thinking a little more clearly.”
Whether Camille stays or goes, Bravo may already be looking to shake things up with a new housewife, Adrienne tells us.
“There’s some speculation that they may be bringing another housewife on,” she says. “So, that would change the whole dynamic of the group as a whole. So, I would imagine that would be a little different for all of our relationships if that happened.”
And after her experience, would Adrienne suggest any of her friends for the cast?
“That would be a decision they’d really have to think about themselves,” she says. “I had a wonderful time. I can’t say ‘wonderful.’ Forget that. It has been amazing for me, however it has been emotionally, at times, difficult. But, overall I’ve enjoyed it.”
If Bravo were to pick a new housewife, Adrienne tells us she can only tell that person one thing after her experience: “Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
We think that sums up this season. Don’t you?
