The umpteenth Republican debate of this primary season took place Tuesday night (Oct. 11) and for once, it was not just the Rick Perry/Mitt Romney show. Herman Cain, the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, drew considerably more focus than usual.
Cain has recently unveiled his 999 Plan, which would institute a flat 9% business tax, a flat 9% individual tax and a flat 9% national sales tax. That plan was a hot topic at the New Hampshire debate.
The other candidates did not seem to really understand the 999 Plan, at least not as well as Hermain Cain does. Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann went so far as to say, “When you take the 999 Plan and turn it upside down, the devil is in the details.” Whatever that means.
For more details about the debate, the Wall Street Journal did a thorough live-blog of the event.
