Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. That’s our response to Ricky Gervais claiming the producers of the Golden Globes asked him to consider another year hosting. He posted that on his blog in the above photo (bottom right-hand corner). Click here for a bigger version.
Ricky writes, “I did exactly what I went to do. Improve on last year’s and have a laugh. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chat show for weeks … I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it. The ratings went up again, and the organisers asked me to consider a third year. I don’t think I should. I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get more press for them, that’s for sure. You know me. Two seasons is enough.”
A Golden Globes rep denies there is any truth to Ricky’s claim.
Other highlights from his Golden Globes Week blog:
Friday, Jan. 14: “Had dinner with Larry David … Michelle Pfeiffer was in the restaurant and shouted over, ‘Don’t say anything horrible about me tomorrow!’ As if I would say anything horrible about Hollywood icons.”
Sunday, Jan. 16: “Just had time to work out and lunch before we had to get ready for the Globes. I love putting on a tuxedo in 80-degree heat at 2 pm in the afternoon, then walking down the red carpet, waving. Still, at least with the few pounds I’ve lost, I don’t sweat as much.”
We think Ricky did a bang-up job and we’d welcome him at the 2012 Golden Globes. What do you think?
