Take this story as a lesson to put in the “there’s always someone watching your social media” folder. Rihanna, who has become well known for broadcasting her life on her Twitter and Instagram, posted a photo of herself with a slow loris in Thailand that led to the arrest of the men who allowed her to pose with it.
The Associated Press reports that authorities on the island of Phuket were altered to the photo and tracked down the people responsible for using the protected animal as a tourist photo opportunity. Two lorises were confiscated from a 20-year-old and 16-year-old boy, and the two were then arrested and charged with a fine of $1,300. They could face charges of possession of protected animals, which carries a penalty of up to four years in prison.
The photo, which is still on Rihanna’s Instagram, shows her taking a selfie with the cute critter. “Look who was talkin dirty to me! #Thailand #nightlife,” she posted on Sept. 20. The photo has received close to 230,000 likes.
Rihanna also posted images of herself with elephants at a photo opportunity. She was in Thailand as part of her Diamonds World Tour.
