It’s been a long time coming, but Robin Thicke has finally hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time in his career with new single “Blurred Lines.”
Billboard announced Wednesday (June 12) that the fast-selling track, featuring T.I. and Pharrell Williams, made a leap from No. 6 to the top in one week, making it the chart’s top Digital, Airplay and Streaming Gainer. It’s the first sone to claim all three titles at the same time since Streaming Gainer was introduced in March of 2012.
Thicke’s first song to pass 1 million lowlands, “Blurred Lines” is the first song to jump from No. 6 to 1 since Usher‘s “OMG,” featuring will.i.am, did the same more than three years ago.
Judging from a recent interview with Heat Magazine (via entertainmentwise.com), we think we know how Thicke might celebrate the news. When asked by the publication if he and his wife, actress Paula Patton, had ever made love to one of his songs, he replied, “I have, yes!” It wasn’t on purpose, he claims, adding, “If it shows up in the middle of a playlist. I never purposely put it on, though.”
