It’s amazing the difference a hair cut and shaved eyebrows can make.
The usually rather sweet-looking Rooney Mara (Dimples!) has transformed herself for her upcoming role as the extremely damaged Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher‘s American film version of the Stieg Larsson book “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” Even returning to real life for this past weekend’s Palm Springs International Film Festival couldn’t hide the fact that she’s not the same “Social Network” girl anymore.
Her look is even edgier on the cover of W magazine where she appears in full-costume, complete with a lip and eyebrow ring and a chest tattoo.
“They did one test, then another a week later. They shot me in the subway in L.A. in full hair and makeup with a motorcycle,” Mara says of the rigorous audition process she went through to win the role over the likes of Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson. “Every day they had a new request. On a Monday morning, David called me in, and I said, ‘What do you want me to do to my hair now?'”
