Ryan Gosling and Britney Spears, sitting in a tree … k-i-s-s-i-n-g. It’s true, Ryan and Britney played kissing games during their formative years as Disney Mouseketeers. Gosling, whose film “The Place Beyond the Pines” hits theaters Friday (April 12) says Spears was his “girl next door.”
“Britney was a sweetheart. She lived right above me,” Ryan tells The Sunday Times. “The little girl I used to play basketball and spin the bottle with.” Gosling appeared on “The All New Mickey Mouse Club” in the early 90’s alongside Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera. He says his mom and sister moved to Florida with him to support his role as Mouseketeer, but his dad disapproved and stayed behind — a decision Ryan says led to his parents’ divorce.
Growing up with just women in the house contributed to Ryan’s “Hey, girl” sensitive persona. “I feel that I think like a girl, just through osmosis, really, living with my mom and my sister,” he says. “If you live in a house with just women when your brain is forming, well, I think my thought process became more similar to a woman’s … A lot of my friends grew up with single mothers. And it’s like we communicate differently.”
Gosling’s newest hobby of taking ballet classes only stands to bolster his reputation as a strong softie. “I’m so bad at it,” says Ryan of the practice he gave up in his childhood. “And I have to take classes with little kids, and it ruins it for them, because they’re there for this pure experience and they just want me out of there.”
