On Saturday (July 21) morning Sage Stallone, the 36-year-old son of actor Sylvester Stallone, was remembered and laid to rest at a private memorial service in Los Angeles.
The service took place at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Brentwood and was attended by his father, Sly’s wife Jennifer Flavin and uncle Frank Stallone, among others. Also on hand, pictured below, were a group of people holding up what appear to be blown-up paparazzi pictures of Sage and his father. So far, it isn’t clear whether they were officially connected with the funeral. Members of the controversial Westboro United Church had been rumored to be planning a protest at the funeral, but it never materialized.
Sage was found dead in his Los Angeles apartment on July 13 and no official cause of death has yet been determined. According to TMZ, Sly has hired detective Scott Ross to find out what happened to his son. The site also alleges that police found baggies of as-yet unidentified white powder in the room with Sage.
In a statement released earlier in the week, Sly said, “This agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives. Sage is our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son’s memory and soul left in peace.”
