The premiere of WGN America’s “Salem” was crazy, terrifying and insane — and it was all in one hour. Now that the world of supernatural 1690s Salem has been established, where will the show go from here?
“Somehow we keep it up! The stakes stay that high and a lot of cool stuff happens,” Gabel tells Zap2it on a visit to the show’s Louisiana set. “To me it’s incredibly dynamic and fun. There’s a lot of crazy stuff that happens. When we do the read-throughs, we’re always like ‘Oh my God, that’s going to be so crazy.'”
There are plenty more scares ahead, more relationship drama and, of course, lots more witchcraft. Says star Ashley Madekwe, “Things I didn’t know about familiars and demons, that starts to play into the scripts more and more. There were all these rituals and customs and superstitions that were relevant to the witches of that period.”
“Salem” airs Sunday nights at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. Central on WGN America.
