urx unit loader 'Secret Life': Bristol Palin talks abstinence and safe sex, but not Levi Johnston

Possibly the most famous unwed teen mother, Sarah Palin‘s daughter Bristol Palin, is making a cameo appearance on the ABC Family series, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” Monday (July 5).

The Dish Rag got a chance to chat with Bristol, who is an abstinence spokesperson, and “Secret Life” star Francia Raisa, (who plays Adrian) about the show and the depiction of the realities of teen pregnancy.

]]> her interview with Greta Van Susteren  (in Feb. 2009) and her statement about abstinence for teens as being “not realistic.” “That quote was definitely taken out of context,” she explains. “Abstinence is the safest, the best approach, to not have a teen pregnancy and not have to go through that. But for some people that is not an option and that’s why we talk about safe sex and that’s what the show talks about as well.” She first saw “Secret Life” when she was already eight months pregnant. Would it have had an impact on her had she seen it earlier? “Definitely, I think the more girls watch shows like this, the more they will realize this is not just a handful of girls in high school, that it could happen to them.” The show even touches on co-parenting and custody issues, which have been part of Bristol’s tumultuous relationship with her baby daddy, Levi Johnston over back child support and custody. We wondered how the new “co-parenting” is going with Levi, who is reportedly seeing much more of Bristol lately, now that she lives in a condo in Anchorage with her young son, Tripp. She had previously released the following statement: “Levi and I are turning a new page here as co-parents to this wonderful boy and putting aside the past because doing so is in Tripp’s best interest.” So how’s that working out?  Does she want to put the rumors about a rekindled romance to rest? Bristol smiles and says politely, ‘I’m not gonna talk about that. I don’t want to address it. I’m here to talk about the show.” As for an acting career, not likely. “I had a great experience here. Don’t think I would act anywhere else.” So let’s make her a series regular! C’mon, ABC Family!
