Selena Gomez recently performed at a UNICEF benefit concert in New York, where she performed Justin Timberlake‘s “Cry Me a River” song. She told the crowd prior to the performance:
“I’ve been through a lot in the past few months. It’s been weird and sad and cool,” says Selena. “This song definitely speaks to me.” Sources say Gomez seemed “so angry” during the song, so perhaps the parallel can be drawn between the song and her now-defunct relationship with Justin Bieber.
“Taylor is one of the most inspirational, positive, good-hearted people I know. I met her when she was 18 … it was absolutely incredible to see someone so successful and so humble. I think she’s been a big part of me staying who I am, too.”
And Gomez also addresses her more grown-up role in “Spring Breakers,” where Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson play bikini-clad criminals.
“It’s kind of been refreshing and nice for me to step out of my comfort zone and do things that I didn’t think I could do as an actress,” says Gomez.
She also talks briefly about her music as she gets older: “I’m a little bit more mouthy [now]. “I’m a little bit older. I’ve got a little more sass. [I’m] telling a lot more, too.”
