On Thursday (June 7), stars gathered in Culver City, Calif., to honor actress Shirley MacLaine, recipient of this year’s AFI life achievement for her body of work in movies ranging from “Sweet Charity” to “Terms of Endearment” to “Downton Abbey.”
Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Steven Spielberg, Morgan Freeman, Sidney Poitier, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson and Sally Field were among those who gathered to honor MacLaine, reports USA Today.
She was toasted by her peers, including Roberts, who said: “She has it all, she can do it all. How can I put this? She’s got balls.”
“She fills the world with presence like no one I’ve ever seen before,” said John Travolta, making his first public appearance since beating back a tabloid scandal.
The tribute to MacLaine will air on TV Land on Sunday, June 24 at 9 p.m. ET.
