Sofia Vergara has a lot going on at the moment: She just earned her second Emmy nomination for “Modern Family,” she’s been doing a ton of press as one of the live-action stars of “The Smurfs” … and she may soon be the significant other of a U.S. Senate candidate.
Vergara’s boyfriend, Nick Loeb, is considering running as a Republican for a U.S. Senate seat in Florida next year, according to the Palm Beach Post. He’s holding off on a final decision for now, though, for a somewhat novel reason:
“I probably won’t be making a decision until sometime after Labor Day,” he tells the paper. “I would say more toward the end of September. … The Emmys are Sept. 18 and I’ll probably make a decision after that. Right now I’m supporting Sofia and her career.”
Vergara, meanwhile, has been making the rounds to promote “The Smurfs” — she plays a the head of a French cosmetics company in the movie, which opens July 29. “Modern Family” is ramping up for its third season on ABC starting Sept. 21, three days after the Emmys.
