Rappers picking fights and putting out diss tracks is nothing new. However, rap star Soulja Boy has put a unique spin on the situation, targeting the U.S. Army in his new video “Let’s Be Real.”
The 21-year-old rapper’s song features the following lyrics: “F*** the FBI/And f*** all the army troops/Fighting for what?/B****, be your own man/I’ll be flying through the clouds/With green like I’m Peter Pan.”
We ran the lyrics through our rap translator and it came out with the following interpretation:”I don’t like the army or the FBI because they follow orders. I also don’t understand America’s role in global politics. Look at my money!”
The video immediately caught the ire of the armed forces and its many supporters across the world. Petitions sprouted up online to ban Soulja Boy and his music from army bases. Soulja Boy a.k.a DeAndre Cortez Way quickly apologized for his short-sighted lyricism, stating that “as an artist, I let my words get the best of me.”
Soulja Boy did not apologize for calling himself an artist. You can watch the music video here (linked due to naughty language).
