The next big thing just got bigger. Starting July 8th, Tuesday night is Deal Night on CNBC. Viewers hungry for high-stakes reality can circle the investment waters all night long with four hours of the hit series “Shark Tank” and two hours of CNBC’s new “Restaurant Startup” – a culinary-themed show that gives viewers a taste of the food biz. That’s six hours of “deals, dishes and dough” every Tuesday night!
A critical and audience favorite, “Shark Tank” (8pm, 9pm, 11pm, 12am) features a team of tough self-made millionaire and billionaire tycoons who vie for the chance to invest their own money into the businesses of entrepreneurs lining up to pitch their products. The Sharks act as both allies and rivals in their quest to give hopeful entrepreneurs the opportunity to score funding and partnerships that could net them millions.
Like “Shark Tank,” “Restaurant Startup” (10pm, 1am) gives viewers the vicarious thrill of watching entrepreneurs shine or crack under grueling pressure and reveals how experts choose which projects to invest in. “Restaurant Startup” follows two accomplished restaurateurs vying to cash in on the next food craze by discovering, investing in and launching America’s Next Great Restaurant.
Each week on “Restaurant Startup”, two teams chosen from hundreds of applicants pitch their food vision to investors and restaurateurs Joe Bastianich and Tim Love. The teams compete for the chance to launch a pop-up version of their unique culinary concept – a restaurant or specialty food shop featuring their signature dish. Love and Bastianich subject contestants to an intense grilling in order to choose the concept with the best chance of capturing food lover’s hearts and wallets and potentially make them millions.
The chosen team has 36 hours and $7,500 to transform a Los Angeles restaurant into their culinary vision with the help of consultant Waylynn Lucas. The doors are then opened to a scrutinizing public in a do-or-die tasting. At the end of the process, Bastianich and Love decide whether or not to invest their own money in the contestant’s food dream.
“Restaurant Startup” is a high-pressure show that will bring competing food entrepreneurs to their boiling points.
