So, we’ve been in the tank for “Suburgatory” pretty much since it was previewed at the upfronts in May. Now that you’ve seen it, what do you think?
As we said in our review, the father-daughter relationship between George (Jeremy Sisto) and Tessa (Jane Levy) has real promise, and both actors are great at showing their bemusement (or outright bewilderment) at life in suburbia.
Levy’s bone-dry delivery even reminds us a little of another disaffected, combat-boot-wearing teenager: Daria Morgendorfer. There’s no annoying sister, and parental figure George is more benignly clueless and well-meaning than Daria’s folks were, but there’s potential for “Suburgatory” to be as sharp a comedy as “Daria” was.
What say you? Will “Suburgatory” keep you hanging around between “The Middle” and “Modern Family” this season?
