Despite a gajillion tweets suggesting otherwise, one-time rap business mogul Suge Knight was not arrested on Sunday (May 6) for the murder of Tupac (aka 2Pac) Shakur. Or at least he wasn’t arrested in Las Vegas, where Shakur was killed in 1996.
“I don’t have any information that he has been arrested,” Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson officer Laura Meltzer tells Zap2it. “We picked him up on some traffic warrants back in February, but since then, I’m not showing any arrests for him.”
The rumor appears to have started on Twitter and quickly caught fire with users who were quick to jump on the bandwagon for a guilty Knight, despite the fact that he was spotted out on the town in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Knight recently suggested that Shakur — who appeared at April’s Coachella music festival as a hologram — isn’t dead, but in hiding.
So, nice try Twitter. Better luck next time.
