Macht, an actor with a career spanning more than five decades, will make his appearance in the second episode when “Suits” returns for more of Season 3 in 2014. According to TVLine, he will play Professor Gerard, a notoriously rigid Harvard professor with very high standards.
“He plays an integral role in one of the through-line storylines in the back 6,” “Suits” executive producer Aaron Korsh said in an interview. “He does not have a positive history with Harvey Specter. They have a conflictual scene.”
Probably best known for playing Trevor Lansing on “General Hospital,” the elder Macht’s career includes repeat appearances on “Cagney and Lacey,” “Knots Landing” and “Murder, She Wrote.” The actor has also had a limited academic career as a professor with a PhD in dramatic literature from Indiana University. Most recently, Macht guest-starred on an episode of “The Mentalist.”
Stephen Macht is actually not the first actor’s parent to show up on “Suits.” Rick Hoffman, who plays Louis Litt, interacted with his real parents during a Season 2 episode in which Louis skyped with Mom and Dad.
“Suits” Season 3 will continue its run with six new episodes on USA in the winter of 2014.
