Actor Misha Collins, formerly of “Supernatural,” is currently at work on his guest appearance on The CW’s “Ringer” — but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have way, way too much time on his hands. Collins set about organizing the largest scavenger hunt ever (with a reported 6000 participants).
And organize it he did, via GISHWHES, his latest of many projects. The scavenger hunt ended on Tuesday (Nov. 29) at 10:44 am Moscow Daylight Time, and judges are currently tallying results.
The bizarre scavenger hunt item worth the highest number of points was a flying Christmas tree. According to Geeks are Sexy, the listing was as follows: “Fill hundreds of balloons with helium, tie them to a decorated
Christmas tree and watch the tree float away. Tree must be a real pine
tree (not faux) and must be at least 5 feet tall. The video must show
the tree floating off and should be 40 seconds long.”
Unfortunately, participants in Kelowna, BC in Canada forgot about the “what goes up must come down” rule, and didn’t adequately tether their tree to the ground before setting it afloat. When it sailed away (and they got their 40-second video) authorities were alerted, as participants were concerned that it would interfere with air traffic control.
Collins wasn’t mentioned in the news story (in the video below) about the incident… but any self-respecting “Supernatural” fan would recognize his likeness, a miniature Castiel doll serving as a tree-topper angel.
