Caleb Bankston is the latest “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” eliminated castaway, after his former alliance members turned on him and Hayden and then he lost the Redemption Island duel. Bankston tells Zap2it that the last Tribal Council was insane — and he was hoping Tyson drew the white rock.
Are you glad you did “Survivor”? Was it everything you hoped and/or expected?
“I had a blast playing the game! I was happy with my experience and expected to do fine with the ‘survival’ aspect. and feared my social game once Colton was separated by the first twist. He tends to bring me out of my shell as I am generally a quiet guy — believe it or not [laughs].”
Were you surprised when Tyson and Gervase turned on the guys’ alliance? I mean, you and Hayden did try to get Tyson out first.
“We heard a rumor that Monica was closer to Tyson and Gervase than they were letting on so it came down to, ‘Are those guys playing us?’ We felt they were and I wasn’t surprised that they did … I trusted Hayden’s gut feeling and he felt comfortable with Tyson and I was still on the fence.”
Let’s talk about that wild tribal council after you were on the jury — what was that like? It looked just nuts.
“It was an awesome tribal council for a first-time jury member. I was hoping it would have worked out that Tyson drew the rock and it worked in my alliance’s favor.”
It surprised us a little that Ciera finally stepped up her game like that, were you guys surprised?
“I wasn’t surprised that she tried to step her game up — I was surprised she took it that far! I think she really heard what Hayden was saying and I’m glad he was backed into a corner and had nowhere to go but up. That made his case even better because the gloves came off.”
At this point, who do you think is in the best position in the game?
“I think Tyson has to best position in the game. Had the draw worked out. tThis would have been Ciera’s game but since it didn’t, Tyson is definitely the guy to get.”
Are you and Colton still going strong?
“Colton and I are extremely strong. We are planning our wedding for Oct. 11, 2014 in Connecticut and then comes the starting of the house build and then we will be looking into surrogacy as soon as he finishes his student teaching and graduates school in May 2015.”
Do you get tired of people criticizing your relationship with him?
“It doesn’t bother me at all. I don’t really hear it or listen to the negativity. I don’t take much stock in people’s opinions who don’t know us at all except from ‘Survivor.’ Our relationship is understood by all of our friends and family and local people who actually hear about us or see us out. So the fact that people say stuff about it without even knowing us, it just goes in one ear and out the other.”
Would you go back on Survivor if asked?
“In a heartbeat!”
“Survivor” airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
