Mitchell Guist (above right with brother Glenn), one of the stars of the History Channel show “Swamp People,” died Monday (May 14) morning in what’s being described as a boating accident by local authorities in Belle River, Louisiana.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office tells WAFB-TV that Guist appears to have had some sort of seizure that caused him to slip and fall while loading something into a boat. He was then taken to Teche Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officials will conduct an autopsy to determine an official cause of death.
“Swamp People,” now in its third season, chronicles the lives of a group of Cajuns who hunt alligators for a living.
