It’s been a week since “So You Think You Can Dance” bid a tearful adieu to Alex Wong after his Achilles tendon injury pulled him from the competition.
And even though the audience is mourning the loss of his talent, his fellow contestants still feel his absence keenly.
Following Wednesday night’s (July 14) performance, the remaining dancers share their thoughts about their fallen comrade. It’s good to hear that they keep in touch with him.
Backstage, the dancers are paired to speak to the press, and first up, Kent Boyd and Robert Roldan are philosophical about Wong and the whole process. They need to move on and compete, despite their feelings. Both are fairly injury-free (and Roldan’s contusion is gone!) so here’s hoping they stay that way.
Billy Bell and Lauren Froderman, who paired up for a “Boogie Shoes” jazz number, admit to missing Wong. Froderman, who’s also roommates with the injured Ashley Galvan, confirms that she’s resting up, but gives no other details.
We save the best interview for last. Jose Ruiz and Adechike Torbert should take their show on the road. They have great chemistry and are the most articulate about their admiration for Wong, especially how he mastered the hip-hop routine.
