Taylor Swift has sold the Cape Cod mansion she bought across the street from the Kennedy compound — the house that may or may not have spurred her breakup with Conor Kennedy.
When 22-year-old T-Swift was still hot and heavy with the high school senior in 2012, she plunked down $4.8 million for the Hyannisport abode that boasts seven bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms. But not long after opening escrow, Swifty was suddenly single and the rumor was she came on too strong and was too serious for Conor, who just wanted to finish high school.
Taylor went through with the purchase despite the breakup, but now she’s unloaded the estate for a nice little profit. Cape Cod Times reports Swift netted a cool $875,000, selling the 4,400 square-foot pad with its own private beach for $5.67 million.
Conor’s grandmother Ethel Kennedy had said of Taylor, “I am happy that we’ll all be neighbors … She is just spectacular.” But borrowing a cup of sugar may not have been as cozy now that Taylor has moved on.
Still, Taylor insists she only bought that house as a real estate investment, telling Vanity Fair it was meant to be a “house-flip.” She doesn’t like the implication that she just wanted to be closer to Conor. “People say that about me, that I apparently buy houses near every boy I like — that’s a thing that I apparently do,” Swift tells the mag. “If I like you I will apparently buy up the real estate market just to freak you out so you leave me.”
As a refresher, before her split with Harry Styles earlier this year, Tay was spotted house hunting in his London neighborhood. So … yeah.
