As we reported last week, “Teen Wolf” star Colton Haynes has opted not to return to the series for its 24-episode third season. The exit came as a surprise to fans, as Haynes’ character, Jackson, was essential to the central storyline last season and ended the finale by transitioning into a whole new kind of werewolf. Now, series star Tyler Posey and executive producer Jeff Davis have opened up about the actual behind-the-scenes situation in the “Teen Wolf” family.
“I spoke to Colton last night, actually,” Davis said at New York Comic-Con. “And, unfortunately, he did confirm to me that he’s not coming back to the show. It’s disappointing news. Colton is a friend, he’s a good friend. We’re going to leave the door open for him to come back if he so decides, but I think Colton has to do what’s best for him and his career. It’s show business, and some people have to move on if they feel they have to do something else creatively. Colton’s a good actor, and he’s going to have a fine career.”
“And he’s a good guy, too,” adds Tyler Posey. “My best friend.”
Jackson won’t just suddenly vanish from Beacon Hills, never to be mentioned again. “We have a plan, but it’s not going to be easy. He’s got tough shoes to fill. We’re going to have to concentrate on making this a great season, hopefully, without him,” says Davis.
