UPDATED with Friday results after the jump. Disney’s “Tangled” is off to a very strong start at the box office for the Thanksgiving holiday, but it doesn’t look like anything will dethrone a certain young wizard this weekend.
Oh, and the other three movies that opened Wednesday (Nov. 24)? Not much to see here.
]]>“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I.” Last week’s box-office champ is set to repeat this weekend, having raked in an additional $26.5 million Wednesday and Thursday. It could end up with $80 million for the five-day period and will certainly break the $200 million mark in domestic receipts by Sunday. “Deathly Hallows” and “Tangled” together put a serious hurting on the three other movies that opened wide for Thanksgiving weekend. None of them — “Burlesque,” “Love and Other Drugs” and “Faster” — has made any real dent in the box office. “Burlesque” has been the best of the three so far, pulling in $5.3 million in its first two days. “Love and Other Drugs” is at an estimated $4.1 million, while “Faster” has taken in $3.5 million so far. “Faster” at least grew from Wednesday to Thursday, which the other two movies didn’t do.
