Move over James Franco, because a new man has come to take your place. “The Amazing Spider-Man” director Marc Webb has announced on his Twitter account that he has cast “Chronicle” star Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn in the upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”
“Meet Harry Osborn. @danedehaan,” Webb tweeted along with the above picture.
The role of Harry Osborn had previously been played by Franco in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” movies. When Webb had announced he was looking for a new actor to portray that character, DeHaan, Brady Corbet, Alden Ehrenreich, Sam Claflin, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth and Boyd Holbrook were all reportedly considered for the role.
DeHaan will be joining Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson and potentially Jamie Foxx as Electro in the upcoming film. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is due out on May 2, 2014.
