The Hollywood Reporter has the news about Cooper, though it’s unclear whether he’ll don his villainous alterego in this movie. Osborn becomes the Green Goblin, and his eventual death (as seen in Sam Raimi‘s “Spider-Man”) causes his son Harry Osborn — portrayed in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” by “Chronicle’s” Dane DeHaan — to pick up the mask as well. It doesn’t seem likely that either of those events will occur in this upcoming Sony Pictures movie, as it’s already bursting at the seams with other villains and characters.
Jamie Foxx plays Electro and Paul Giamatti plays Rhino in the film, and both are very obviously antagonists. Also new to the “Amazing Spider-Man” world is Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson. Andrew Garfield returns as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and Emma Stone has another go at the character of Gwen Stacy. Is that a strong enough cast for you?
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is due in theaters on May 2,2014.
