Spoiler alert: Martin Sheen‘s character, Peter Parker’s beloved Uncle Ben, was killed in “The Amazing Spider-Man.” His death inspired Peter Parker to fight back against the criminal underworld of the city, and was the catalyst for a major shift in his nephew, whom he’d raised since Peter was very young.
It was definitely a resonant moment in the film — so fans may be surprised to learn that Martin Sheen will be returning for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” sequel. “They’ve called me back, I don’t know what the part is gonna be, but I’m going to be ‘Uncle Ben’ once again in Spider-Man next year,” says Sheen. “We shoot it in February.”
There hasn’t been word yet as to whether Sally Field, who played Ben’s widow in the first film, will also be returning — or even in what capacity Ben will be back. Flashbacks? Dream sequences? Get your guesses in now!
