British voters have spoken, and they have voted “Ripper Street” the best drama of 2013 in a poll held on Radio Times. But the site says this is actually a show of defiance against BBC, which canceled the show after its second season.
“Ripper Street” brought in 35 percent of the poll’s total votes, earning it the No. 1 spot on the list. This comes after BBC canceled the series in early December. It stars Matthew MacFayden, MyAnna Buring and Jerone Flynn, and it might be revived on another network.
Coming in behind “Ripper Street” are (in order) “Peaky Blinders,” “Doctor Who,” “Broadchurch” and “Breaking Bad.” “Game of Thrones” came in seventh place, while “The Walking Dead” earned the No. 8 spot.
