Whatever else “The Borgias” may have to offer, it seems like a safe bet that the show and its star Jeremy Irons will depict its Renaissance time period in lush detail. Take a look:
That’s Irons, conferring with director Neil Jordan on the Budapest set of the Showtime series. (It’s also a shot you can see only on Zap2it). Irons is playing Rodrigo Borgia, the patriarch of the powerful 15th century Italian family and the man who would become Pope Alexander VI.
Jordan (“The Crying Game,” “The Brave One”) created the show and is directing the first two episodes in addition to executive producing.
The cast of “The Borgias” also includes Colm Feore, Joanne Whalley, Francois Arnaud and Derek Jacobi. It’s scheduled to debut in the spring.
