Season 2 of “The Client List” finished airing on Lifetime Sunday (June 16). The show’s future is still up in the air, due at least in part to how star Jennifer Love Hewitt wants to handle her real-life pregnancy on screen.
Hewitt is expecting a child with her fiance and “Client List” co-star, Brian Hallisay. She’s about three months into her pregnancy, which would mean a due date of late this year or very early in 2014.
The show’s producers are deciding whether, and if so how, to write Hewitt’s pregnancy into the series. According to Deadline, Hewitt, who’s also an executive producer, wants Hallisay — who plays her character Riley’s ex-husband on the show — to be the fictional baby’s father.
That’s at odds with what the show’s writers have pitched to Lifetime: that Colin Egglesfield, who plays Riley’s brother-in-law and current love interest, be the dad. Per Deadline, Lifetime hasn’t made a decision yet but would prefer not to go with Hallisay’s character, Kyle.
“There are many story lines we are exploring,” a rep for Hewitt tells the site. “So any suggestion that we are not doing our best to develop a great season is simply not accurate.” Still, Deadline reports talks are stalled and that “both sides appear willing to walk away.”
What do you think? Do you want a third season of “The Client List,” and should Hewitt’s pregnancy even be written into the show?
