The CW’s “The Flash” is already beefing up its roster of DC Comics heroes and villains — the show has cast Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart, a.k.a. Captain Cold.
The show’s producers announced the news at the “Arrow” spinoff’s panel in front of reporters at the 2014 summer TV press tour. Miller will first appear in episode 4 of the new series, and executive producer Greg Berlanti promises, “We’ll be seeing his origin and the origin of the Rogues.”
Says Berlanti, who also produces “Arrow,” “Between the two shows shows this year we’ll have half the Justice League on our two shows.”
That means plenty of easter eggs for fans, and more comic characters, such as Robbie Amell’s Ronnie Raymond, a.k.a. one half of Firestorm (and the yet-to-be-cast other half, Martin Stein).
Geoff Johns, chief creative officer of DC Entertainment, promises “The Flash” will be “probably the most faithful DC Comics adaptation ever.”
The “Flash” show’s Flash suit is a less vibrant red than the one in the comics, but the color could brighten up as the years progress. Grant Gustin, who plays the title character, says shooting in the suit for the first time was an epic experience.
“The first time I shot in the suit was during the tornado moment where I catch a part of the roof and throw it off me and it’s raining that night, it was really intense,” he says, adding that he geeked out as he filmed the scene. “I feel powerful in it. I feel really cool in it.”
“The Flash” premieres Tuesday, Oct. 7 on The CW.
