Poor Callie — just when she thought she’d finally found stability in Stef, Lena and the rest of the Foster family, “The Fosters” Season 1 finale dropped the bomb that the man she thought was her father is not the one on her birth certificate.
Season 2 of the ABC Family hit will explore Callie’s paternal issues even further.
“Callie’s got another shady person from her past,” star Maia Mitchell tells Zap2it on a May visit to the show’s Los Angeles set. “In the new season she has to decide whether she wants to explore who Robert Quinn is and what that means — the technicalities of adoption and what that means to her.”
She’ll find out his identity shortly into the new season, but will she attempt to have a relationship with him? “There are a whole lot of shades of gray that she has to wade through to figure out if it’s worth it, you know, contacting him and opening up that kind of can of worms,” Mitchell says.
One thing that’s nice and stable, however, is the fact that little brother Jude has finally officially been adopted by the Fosters.
“She has always put Jude before her, so I think just the knowledge that Jude is safe and has a consistent situation is a huge weight off her shoulders,” Mitchell says. “That is the most important thing for her and always will be, so it’s definitely lightened her load a lot. I think that it’s made her desire to be part of the family stronger, is because she knows he is there and she wants to really be there for him.”
“The Fosters” Season 2 premieres Monday (June 16) at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
