On March 24, director of the “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies Peter Jackson held a live Q&A online for fans who purchased “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” on DVD or Blu-ray. During the session he took fan questions, teased information about the remaining two movies, and even showed off some footage.
Now, Jackson has posted a portion of that session to YouTube, in which he answers a few questions from fans, including one you may recognize. Stephen Colbert, host of “The Colbert Report” and a huge fan of the series, asks a very detailed question about elves, complete with maps.
Once Colbert wraps up, Jackson gives him a simple one word answer, before firing back with a question of his own. He wants to know about about the gifts Colbert gives his guests when they visit his show. Specifically, Jackson asks why the coffee cup he was given after his appearance was smaller than the one he drank from during his interview. He then shows the one he took from the stage, comparing them.
Jackson takes other fan questions in the six minute video, including one from Billy Boyd, who played Pippin in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. The video ends with the director showing off concept art for Mirkwood, a forest that will be featured in the remaining movies.
