On the eve of Comic-Con, the makers of “The Hobbit” have set off our geek radar from thousands of miles away from San Diego with a couple new photos of cast members in their dwarf makeup.
Up above is Richard Armitage (“Captain America,” the BBC’s “Robin Hood”)as Thorin Oakenshield, the leader of the Company of Dwarves in J.R.R. Tolkien’s book and the two movies, which are filming now. “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” is due for release in December 2012, with “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” scheduled for a year later. The shot of Armitage is the last of the Company to be released; you can see the rest on the films’ Facebook page.
And, considering that Armitage usually looks like this, we’d say that the makeup and costume people director Peter Jackson is employing are doing a bang-up job. (Not that we expected anything less, given how fully realized the “Lord of the Rings” movies were.)
So we’ve seen the dwarves, and we’ve seen Martin Freeman as Bilbo and a few other shots from the set. What do you want to see next from “The Hobbit”?
