Bryant Prince is just 11 years old, but that doesn’t keep him from going toe-to-toe with Johnny Depp in Disney’s “The Lone Ranger.” Prince plays Danny Reid — nephew to the film’s title character, played by Armie Hammer — and carries a pretty integral role on his young shoulders.
We chatted with Prince on the red carpet at the film’s world premiere at Disney California Adventure, and found he didn’t even realize what a massive star he was sharing screen time with. “I knew he was famous,” Prince tells Zap2it of Depp. “But I didn’t know, like, ‘faaamous’ … if you get what I mean. … I knew who he was; I just didn’t know that every time his face would be seen, people would mob him over and stuff.”
Prince sees his fair share of action throughout the rollicking 149 minute adventure, and expresses plenty of convincing emotion while he’s at it. “My favorite scene was — I was with my mom, [the character played by] Ruth Wilson,” he says. “And we were running down this hill, and … it was my favorite because it felt like I was doing my own stunts.” And the best part of his time on set? Prince says he loved “developing a new family.”
Hammer told Zap2it earlier there were plenty of jokes being played off-camera, a fact that was apparently not lost on young Prince. “Everyone was so nice,” he says. “They’d make so much jokes all the time. We just had a fun time.”
