News of the delay came from the film’s director, Wes Ball, via Twitter on Saturday (Oct. 5).
“Good news and bad news y’all. Bad news, you have to wait a bit longer. Good news, the movie and marketing can be the best it can be now.”
Ball followed up a short time later with another tweet:
“These things aren’t my choice, but I 100% agree with fox’s decision. Just imagine the cool stuff we can do with a little extra time.”
A final post promised good things in store for fans.
“I’ll do my best to get you guys some cool stuff to see in the mean time.”
Also starring Blake Cooper, Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, “The Maze Runner” is the first book of a trilogy set at some point in the future.
