“The Middle” will stage another mini-“Everybody Loves Raymond” reunion in its season premiere, this time featuring Raymond himself.
Ray Romano has signed on to guest in the ABC comedy’s third-season opener opposite his former co-star Patricia Heaton, an ABC rep confirms to Zap2it. He’ll play a guy with ties to Frankie’s (Heaton) past. (TV Guide first reported the casting.)
While on a road trip, Frankie and Mike (Neil Flynn) start to reminisce about their honeymoon — which, in true Heck style, didn’t work out the way they had planned. Romano’s character had something to do with that.
Romano is the second former “Raymond” regular to appear on “The Middle.” Doris Roberts guested in three episodes last season as Brick’s (Atticus Shaffer) teacher.
“The Middle” begins its season with an hour-long episode on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
