Starz has had some success in recent years with airing British miniseries “The White Queen” and “Dancing on the Edge,” and it’s going back across the pond for another limited series, “The Missing,” that will premiere in the fall.
The eight-hour series, which will air on BBC One in the U.K. (the two companies are co-producing it), follows Tony Hughes (James Nesbitt, “The Hobbit,” “Jekyll”) desperate search for his son, who goes missing while the family is vacationing in France. The story takes place in both the immediate aftermath of the boy’s disappearance and eight years later, when Tony returns to France to resume the search. Up above, you can watch a teaser for the intense story with commentary from the cast and producers.
Tony’s obsession also ruptures his marriage to wife Emily (Frances O’Connor, “Mr. Selfridge”). Tcheky Karyo also stars as a French police detective sympathetic to Tony’s quest.
“The Missing” will premiere Nov. 15 on Starz.
