Witch side are you on? Good or evil?
The CW unveiled their 2011-12 schedule on Thursday, May 19, and paired Kevin Williamson’s new drama centering on witches “The Secret Circle” with his hit show “The Vampire Diaries” on Thursdays. Judging from the video preview and clips the C-Dubs just released, the shows are going to perfectly complement each other.
“The Secret Circle” — which Williamson and Andrew Miller are executive producing — centers on a young girl (“Life Unexpected’s” Britt Robertson) who discovers she is part of a secret coven of witches after moving to her mother’s hometown after a tragic accident. If that weren’t enough, she also happens to be the key to unlocking a centuries-old battle of good vs. evil.
Starring in the show are “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”‘ Thomas Dekker, Australian newcomers Louis Hunter and Phoebe Tonkin (who is the perfect Faye), Shelley Hennig, Jessica Parker Kennedy and Gale Harold (in arguable his most devious role yet), who most recently guest-starred on “Hellcats.” (May it rest in peace in TV heaven.)
Similar to “TVD,” viewers can expect an epic love story (and triangle) when they tune into “Secret Circle” this fall. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Williamson says, “There’s an epic love story that we hint at in the pilot that is going to blow up about two soulmates.”
There is something fans of the “TVD” and “TSC” book series (both from author L.J. Smith) shouldn’t expect: A crossover episode. “We’re not connecting them; there are no crossovers,” he says. “It’s not as violent as ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ or as scary.”
