If you’re not familiar with “The Sing-Off” from any of its previous seasons, the show has been running since 2009 and features a cappella groups competing for a top prize of a recording contract and $100,000. Although most of the tunes on the show are popular songs familiar to everyone, the groups usually offer their own twists on the classics. Plus, there is the added difficulty that nothing in a cappella can be faked. With no soundtracks, bands or other safety nets, everything is on the line during each performance.
Nick Lachey will return this season as the host of “The Sing Off,” while Jewel will join veteran judges Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman on the judging panel.
Both the premiere and the finale of “The Sing Off” will be two-hour episodes. The show is produced by One Three Media, Outlaw Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television and comes from reality mega-producer Mark Burnett.
