Miles Teller is becoming quite the indie star. After dazzling critics in “The Spectacular Now” with YA-movie darling Shailene Woodley, the 26-year-old actor has landed another starring role in an indie film.
Teller will take on the lead role in “Whiplash,” the Sundance Short Film Jury Award winner from writer/director Damien Chazelle that is being adapted into a feature-length film, Deadline reports.
“Whiplash” is about a novice drummer (Teller) in an elite jazz conservatory who is subjected to the wrath of his merciless instructor (J.K. Simmons, reprising the role he originated in the short), and follows the repercussions of their relationship.
“Whiplash” begins shooting in September, but you can catch Teller in the upcoming YA movie “Divergent” with his “The Spectacular Now” costar Woodley.
