On Monday night, the Top 10 performers took to “The Voice” stage. After unprecedented voting last week, Team Blake Shelton was left with two performers — Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott. Christina Aguilera also has two, namely Sylvia Yacoub and Dez. Adam Levine’s three players are Melanie Martinez, Bryan Keith, and Amanda Brown. Cody Belew, Nicholas David, and Trevin Hunte are the three still in the running for Cee-Lo Green.
On Team Blake, Cassadee was the standout, particularly because she sang “Over You,” an incredibly personal song for her coach, Blake. He wrote the song, which is performed by his wife Miranda Lambert, about his older brother who passed away when Blake was a teenager. Cassadee related to the song as well, singing it for her late grandfather.
Cassadee received a standing ovation from Blake, who felt she performed like a true artist, and Christina, who compared her to a lotus flower. (Shameless album plug, perhaps?) Meanwhile, Adam suggested that Cassadee may feel at home in the country genre. We’ve got some doubts about that, but there’s no denying the powerful emotion in the song. Watch the performance below and weigh in in the comments section.
