Though “The Walking Dead” Season 4 midseason finale felt like something of a hard reset for the AMC series, there were plenty of breadcrumbs dropped in the season’s first eight episodes to leave some big questions unresolved for the midseason premiere.
In the two months since “Too Far Gone” aired, here are the plot points we can’t wait to see resolved in the second half of Season 4:
Is Judith dead? Chances are, yes. Greg Nicotero said that Carl and Rick’s devastated responses to finding her empty carrier were for good reason. Here’s hoping we get a definitive answer one way or another, though.
When and how will Carol be reintroduced? We already know Carol will be back in the back half of Season 4, and our favorite theory is that she will run into Tyreese, Mika and Lizzie while they’re separated from the rest of the group. But how long will we have to wait, and was that really her hand on that gun?
Who was feeding rats to the zombies? A plot point from the premiere episode that fell by the wayside in Season 4 was who is the psycho feeding rats to the walkers? Tyreese also found a tortured critter in the midseason finale, so chances are that mystery will become a focal point now that everyone is separated.
Whose voice was on the radio? Who was at the other end of the radio transmission that so distracted Daryl, Michonne, Bob Stookey and Tyreese in “Isolation”? Will a Prison survivor decide they want to set out and find out what other humans are out there?
Will they discover Sanctuary? Speaking of which, when will the Sanctuary become a plot point? Negan is coming at some point, which means a plot in Season 4b could be to hear about — if not find — Sanctuary. If our speculation is correct, the Saviors could be the people who were sending out the radio transmission. But it also could be …
Will they reach the Alexandra Safe-Zone? Considering the Season 4 finale is called “A” and that the Alexandria Safe-Zone is the next major location Rick, et al., reach in the comics, it would make sense for “The Walking Dead” to introduce this safe area by season’s end. If it’s not the Saviors, it could be some people at the Alexandria Safe-Zone sending out this radio signal.
Where did Lilly go? After shooting the Governor in the head, we have no idea what happened to Lilly. She lost her daughter and is separated from her sister, so who knows where she went and when she’ll pop up again. Could she turn villain now that her happy-ish post-apocalyptic life is gone forever? That would definitely make an interesting twist.
When will everyone reunite? And more importantly, when will everyone from the Prison come back together — if they do at all? After Season 2’s finale, it took a very long time for Andrea to return to the rest of the group (and then she didn’t, really) so it would be nice if that didn’t happen again. Please.
“The Walking Dead” returns with the final eight episodes of Season 4 on Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
