“Thor: The Dark World’s” trailer might not premiere until April 23, but Marvel is doing its best to tide fans over until that date. Following the release of the movie’s poster, two new stills have hit the Internet courtesy of USA Today.
One of the images shows Natalie Portman‘s Jane in Asgard alongside Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor, and the two seem to be pretty happy together. But according to Hemsworth, his character is still in a bit of trouble after not calling during “The Avengers.”
“Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up,” Hemsworth says. “Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe.”
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teases that there’s a bit of a love triangle at play in “Thor: The Dark World,” as the Asgardian warrior goddess Sif, played by Jaimie Alexander, is also vying for Thor’s affections. “It’s superhero action, but it’s the familiar territory of a love triangle where the parents think your girlfriend is wrong for you,” says Feige. “That’s how the best of these movies work.”
The second image shows Thor in the heat of battle, and Hemsworth says he made a point of showing off the warrior that his character is in this movie.
“I really wanted to ramp up his skill set in battle,” says Hemsworth. “He’s not just this Viking throwing the hammer. Here he’s more demigod with dynamic moves we haven’t seen before.”
“Thor: The Dark World” is due in theaters on Nov. 8. Directed by “Game of Thrones'” Alan Taylor, it also stars Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Zachary Levi and Christopher Eccleston.
